There is absolutely no doubt that they only way to build your company for the future (as far as a technology basis) is to focus on mobile applications. The trend towards mobile applications is simply breathtaking. Whether companies are big, small, or tiny, they are investing in this area of technology. (BTW – In my mind, mobile also includes the cloud initiatives…)

I find this article particularly interesting because I was a first hand observer of the SAP/Oracle/Baan ERP competitions in the 90’s. SAP in particular really drove the adoption of client-server computing in large enterprises (at very huge costs…). They are massive and have an amazing market position in the enterprise market. This kind of investment by SAP tells me that the world of the future will be mobile (and cloud).
So if mobile application development is not part of your strategic plan, time to update that plan….
